REDKEN

Free download…here’s a great remix of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Big Love’ from RedKen (aka) Kenny Dickenson which was released as a limited hush-hush release on 12″ a few years back.. apparently. It’s just been re-opened for a few weeks – so grab it while you can…. it’s a pretty awesome listen.

INTRODUCING: BEAR’S DEN ‘ELYSIUM’.

INTRODUCING: BEAR’S DEN ‘ELYSIUM’.

Love this new track from Bear’s Den. It’s entitled Elysium and is set for release on 21st July via Communion/Caroline.

Bear’s Den are Andrew Davie (guitar, vocals), Joey Haynes (guitar), and Kev Jones (drums, bass). Since forming in 2012, the London based trio have built a fervent fanbase through their live shows and a dedicated DIY aesthetic that originally saw them self-fund tours and sell hand printed CDs direct to fans at gigs.

Ahead of a new US tour in July, Bear’s Den have announced today that they’ll play the Mumford & Sons curated Gentlemen of the Road Takeover stage at Glastonbury this Saturday. If you’re going to be there check them out!

MUSIC VIDEO: GORGON CITY FEAT LAURA WELSH

MUSIC VIDEO: GORGON CITY FEAT LAURA WELSH
Gorgon City sit firmly at the forefront of the recent British House explosion.  The single ‘Ready For Your Love‘ gatecrashed the UK top 5 at the beginning of the year and new single ‘Here For You’ featuring Laura Welsh which has also gone Top 10 this week.  This is a prime example of an act caught at the precise moment they go stratospheric as part of the Original Penguin Plugged In Series which takes place in London’s The Hospital Club and this ‘Here For You’ performance captures the act in intimate surroundings.
The series sees the most creative pioneers take to the stage to play up close and personal shows, showcasing just what it is that has made them such original forces.  Previous Original Penguin Plugged In shows have taken place with Jake BuggFrictionMiles KaneDeaf HavanaBenga and Wilkinson and upcoming shows feature Nick MulveyTwin AtlanticThumpers and We Are Scientists.

MUSIC: NICK MULVEY ‘FEVER TO THE FORM’

MUSIC: NICK MULVEY ‘FEVER TO THE FORM’

“My playing is all about lines, not strumming chords. It’s about having motion and rhythm and groove. It doesn’t have to be complex, but it has to be animated. Singer-songwriter stuff, Philip Glass – it’s all in there.” Nick Mulvey

I’m so addicted to… Nick Mulveys‘ debut album ‘First Mind‘. So addicted that I haven’t listened to much else for the past few weeks. I think he’s brilliant.

Nick releases his new single, ‘Fever To The Formwhich is also on his album on the 21st July 2014 through Fiction Records. If you do one thing this year. Listen to Nick Mulvey.

First Mind is an engrossing listen, and not easily defined. It encourages an open-mind (the ‘First Mind’ perhaps), and a sense of the worldliness that Nick poured into its making. Cucurucu is an interpretation of DH Lawrence’s poem, Piano, wrapped within a heady groove. And groove, for all its modern day baggage, is at the heart of everything Nick Mulvey does. Nitrous, a song about a daydreamer selling laughing gas, positively radiates with a classic chug and groove when the bassline slinks in. There are contemplative moments too, Fever to the Form and Meet Me There are poignant odes, whilst The Trellis and Juramidam showcase that leftfield, Eastern-inflected guitar technique. It is a record that gets under your skin, and its sense of exploration is palpable.
