Winter is a sad time for us festival lovers. As the sky’s cloud over and the xmas parties kick off we have to hang up our festival hat and await springtime to zoom on round again. But never fear! Those xmas parties can be awesome fun and our darling festival kings www.virtualfestivals.com have gone to the effort of putting on a prestigious event – the festival awards – www.festivalawards.com – YES! Its true! And guess what? The ohDearyme blag blog has been asked to go along and cause some havoc… (‘Havoc?’ I’m sure that’s what it said in the brief Tom!). So Tom (Global Gathering/V-Fest co-presenter) and I will be heading down on the 6th November – armed with a camera to bring you back an entertaining blog of the awards…. the categories stand as –

Best Major Festival, Best Medium Sized Festival, Best Small Festival, Best Line Up, Best New Festival, Grass Roots Festival Award, Fan Friendly Festival, Family Festival Award, The Greener Festival Award, Best Toilets, Best Party Arena, Yourope Award for Best European Festival, Innovation Award, Best Headline Act, Festival Rock Act, Best Dance Act, Festival Pop Act, Festival Feel Good Act, Best Newcomer Award, Anthem of the Summer and Most Memorable Moment – yes it’s a very long list….

I am rooting for Latitude and Daft Punk to pick up awards and certainly Patrick Wolf to pick up best Festival Pop Act… oooooh we’ll have to wait and see!!!!

Hosted by the Cuban Brothers, the ceremony will be packed full of celebs including Faithless, New Order, Mr Hudson and the Library – as well as the big festival organisers – such as Rob Da Bank from Bestival, Melvin Benn of Latitude and John Giddings of IOW fest… ooh and did I mention Danny Dyer is going to be there? Well he is…. and we’re hoping to get an interview with him.. the video blog should be posted by Weds 7th pm – so don’t forget to er set your alarm and er tune in for some cheeky fun!
